What are your core values that form guiding principles for your life?

4

Om Swami ji says we should have some core values that serve as a moral compass for our actions and choices. What are yours?

I think my core value is giving respect to all;  not discriminating against any one on the basis of race, skin color, religion, country, gender, class, caste or social status. I don’t always succeed, but I try to give the same respect to everyone, at least in my mind.

Humor is another core value for me. There is always a humorous side to everything, but sometimes, humor or a light-hearted comment gets me into trouble.

Some of my core values (Which I have followed/tried to follow through the years in the order as given below; however may not be successful all the time):

1. Simplicity: simple living and high thinking,

2. Truthfulness & Honesty, Humility

3. "Justice" or notion of Justice or fair play: I was very particular about this and would get angry quite often in it's absence in earlier days

4. Goodness & Generosity: Doing good and being good,

5. Not harming & hurting others

6. Helping others to grow as part of cooperation and complementary role that we play

7. Self-dependence,

8. Excellent and creative performance,

9. Doing something for the society and the world to bring a change for the better with the spirit of truthfulness.

10. Considering actively Compassion, Attitude of Gratitude & Forgiveness now  ...

My Vedic Horoscope by Om Swami on os.me lists Compassionate, Religious, Grateful, Artistic, empathic, idealistic, affectionate, easy-going, sensitive to the conditions of the surroundings and very likeable as my core soul qualities ...

My primary principle is also similar to yours that is being respectul towards others.

My second principle is to be as authentic as possible in my own skin.

My experiences have made me rather pragmatic and I am completely honest when I say that I lack humour. It's possible that I have empathised too much with other's pain. I can laugh at myself but I can't laugh at others. I have a lot of respect for people who have the ability and talent to make others laugh.😊
