मणिकर्णिका की चिताग्नि – The eternally burning funeral pyres at Manikarna Ghat, Benaras (Kashi). There is a belief that the pyres at Manikarnika ghat of Kashi burn eternally one after the other. This signifies the eternal circle of rebirth and death which keeps the fire burning till the end of the time.

It is said that Lord Shiva gave Lord Vishnu a boon, that whoever dies in Kashi would be liberated from the endless cycle of birth and death and his soul would be set free.
