Do you see how life trembles
like a leaf
in a dust storm
quivering for the fear of being
cast on the ground

Life knows…
all joys
are but sorrows disguised
every sanctuary one knows
withers with time

Some days will be so hard on the back
wilted you’ll stand
those who care will standby
as you’ll shrink
until you start to fade

Some days life will not find its feet
those days perhaps are the true
face of life
You’ve come alone
and you’ll die just as that

Beautiful it is if you ask me
no illusions of grandeur
not a chance at love
just a simple truth
that life is rough

Only the Divine can know the heart
of a soul
be it ugly or dark or dirty as mud
whatever it may be
the Lord will love

In this truth alone
I find peace
whoever and however you are
God alone can know
what’s in your heart

Why not leave the world to the world
go another way
if you’ve fallen on the ground
be in no rush
to get up right away

Maybe lie trembling for a while
know your despairs
think of a time when you were young
and without a care
perhaps that’ll bring on a smile

Truth is life is lovely
but it’s a lonely affair
even the ones surrounded with love
have not much to say
life bludgeons even the most childish hearts to pulp…
