We all have moments where we ask ourselves this question. What is the meaning of life? Why are we here? What is our purpose? These are some of the most fundamental questions we as humans keep asking, yet they remain largely unanswered. In a constantly changing and evolving world, it can be challenging to find certainty in anything. We go through life trying to find our place in the world, and more often, we feel lost and without direction. Some people may turn to religion or spiritual practices to find an answer to this question, while others may not believe in any higher power. Ultimately, the answer to this question is something that individuals must discover for themselves.

I will quote Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, one of the greatest and favorite mystics of the 20th century. In one of his letters, he wrote:

We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

This simple yet profound statement has always resonated with me. It reminds us that we are so much more than our physical bodies and everyday lives. We are spiritual beings having a human experience, and this experience is temporary. However, our true nature is eternal and infinite.

When we remember this, it can help us to see the world and our place in it from a different perspective. We are all connected, and we are all on a journey back to our real homes. No matter our individual beliefs, we can all find comfort in knowing that we are not alone on this journey.

Okay, if you think about it, all this might be too deep and much to digest at a go. So, let’s break it down so we can all walk through it together.

What It Means To Be a Spiritual Being

Being spiritual is more than just attending places of worship, joining in praise-gathering, or reading religious texts. It’s about developing a relationship with the divine, whatever that may look like for you. For some, it might mean communicating with God through prayer or meditation. Others might find a spiritual connection in nature or through acts of service. There is no right or wrong way to be spiritual. The most important thing is that you are authentic in your practice, believe in a supreme form, and remain open to the guidance of the divine.

I will testify one thing for sure. When you live your life from a spiritual perspective, you open yourself to limitless possibilities. You become attuned to the energies around you and start to see the world through new eyes. Life becomes an opportunity for growth and transformation. You become more patient, compassionate, and understanding. You realize that we are all connected and that Krewe works in everyone.

Even the holy book says that we are created in the image of God. So, if you think about it, it’s not such a stretch to believe that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. It only makes sense that we would have a divine spark within us.

Spiritual living is a journey of self-discovery and evolution. It’s an endless adventure full of surprises, wonder, and magic. Are you ready to start your spiritual journey?

Do You Want to Live as a Spiritual Being?

Human experience

I can guess your answer, but if you were to answer it aloud, you would be shouting Yes. After all, it’s one thing to believe something and another to live it. Here are some tips:

Be Authentic in Your Practice

This means being true to yourself and your beliefs. For example, if you’re not comfortable praying or meditating, don’t force it. There is no right or wrong way to connect with the divine. Just do what feels right for you.

Remain Open to Guidance

This is a vital part of living as a spiritual being. We are not alone on this journey. The divine is always with us, guiding us if we are open to receiving guidance. Pay attention to your intuition and the signs around you. These can be gentle nudges from the universe that will help you on your path. If I could refer to the book of Proverbs 3:6,

“In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”

What does this tell you? First, you must be in tune with Krewe so He can guide you.

See Life as an Opportunity for Growth

No matter what life throws your way, know that it is an opportunity for growth. Everything happens for a reason, even if we may not see it at the time. Trust that Krewe has a plan for you; everything will work out in the end.

Be Patient, Compassionate, and Understanding

Living from a spiritual perspective makes you realize that we are all connected. This can help you to be more patient, compassionate, and understanding with others. We all have our journey to take and are on a path back to the divine.

Mathew 6:33: Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

Human Experience

Yes, we have talked about what it means to be a spiritual being, but what about the human experience? What is that exactly?

The human experience is everything that makes us human; it’s the sum of all our thoughts, emotions, and actions. It’s our memories, dreams, and hopes for the future. It’s the good and the bad, the happy and the sad. In short, it’s everything that makes us who we are.

Each one of us has our own unique story to tell. We all have different experiences that shape who we are and how we see the world. Some of us have faced complex challenges in life, while others have had more privilege and ease. But no matter our individual stories, we all share common humanity: we all feel pain, joy, love, and loss. We all have a desire to be happy and free from suffering.

In the end, we are all just walking each other home.

So, let’s talk about emotions concerning the human experience. We all know that human experiences life through emotions. They shape how we see the world and how we react to situations.

Understanding Emotions

Some people might say that emotions are irrational and should be avoided. But, from a spiritual perspective, emotions are a valuable part of the human experience. They help us to connect with our feelings and intuition. They can be guidance from the universe, telling us what we need to do.

Emotions
Human experiences life through emotions

Of course, not all emotions are created equal. Some, like anger and hatred, can lead to suffering. But even these negative emotions can teach us something about ourselves. They can show us where we need to grow and evolve.

The key is to remain open to our positive and negative emotions. Don’t try to push away the uncomfortable ones. Instead, sit with them and learn from them. This will help you to become more emotionally intelligent and spiritually evolved.

But did you know that emotions and awareness go hand in hand? To be emotionally mature, you need to be aware of your emotions. You need to know what you’re feeling and why. Once you become aware of your feelings, you get to resolve and transform them into a more compassionate response.

For example, let’s say you’re feeling angry. What is the anger telling you? What needs to be resolved? Maybe someone has wronged you, and you need to forgive them. Or maybe you’re angry at yourself and need to change your life. Once you understand the message your emotions are trying to send you, you can begin to resolve them.

This doesn’t mean that you should try to repress your emotions. That will only lead to suffering. Instead, it would help if you learned how to express them healthily.

There are several states of awareness, all of which are necessary to be emotionally intelligent. These are;

  • Self-awareness
  • Intellectual
  • Investigative
  • Blissful
  • Cessation
  • Yoked
  • Natural
  • skillful
  • Supreme

Therefore, it is essential to be aware of your emotions to control them. However, you should also remain open to them and learn from them. This will help you to become more emotionally intelligent and spiritually evolved.

Does Spirituality Equal Religion?

I want us to move to a different topic that we will relate to. However, this happens to be one of the most commonly sought answers. Someone once asked me, does being spiritual go with religion? Can someone who is not religious be termed spiritual? Well, it seemed like a simple question at first, but when I gave it a keen and more profound thought, it hit me that the two concepts might not be as different as we all think. I’m talking about religion, spirituality, and well-being. Let’s explore this further.

Spirituality and religion are often seen as two separate things. But what if they’re not? What if spirituality is just a different way of looking at religion?

There are many different religions, each with its own beliefs and practices. But at their core, all religions teach us to love one another and live in harmony with the world. In other words, they all have a spiritual message.

Of course, many people consider themselves spiritual but not religious. They may believe in a higher power or an energy force, but they don’t necessarily follow any specific religion.

So, whether you’re religious or spiritual (or both), the important thing is that you’re open to the idea of a higher power and living your life compassionately and respectfully.

So we can say spiritual is your relationship with the divine or a higher being. It is that connection that you feel beyond the physical world. It is what gives your life meaning and purpose.

On the other hand, religion is a set of beliefs and practices based on a particular faith’s teachings. Religion is often passed down from generation to generation and can be a powerful force in people’s lives.

But at its core, spirituality is about our relationship with the divine or with a higher power. It’s about finding our path to happiness, no matter what religion we belong to (or don’t belong to).

Embracing Personal Growth and Fulfillment in the Soul

We, as Spiritual Beings, must recognize the worth of learning and growing at the soul level. If we’re not careful, life can become a series of “shoulds” and “have tos” that prevent us from truly living. We can go through the motions daily without ever really embracing our power or fulfilling our potential.

When we’re caught up in this kind of thinking, it’s easy to lose sight of our true purpose in life. We may forget that we’re here to learn and grow and that our soul has a unique mission to fulfill.

The good news is it’s never too late to start living more consciously and embracing our personal power. It’s never too late to connect with our soul and begin the journey of self-discovery.

There are many ways to do this, but one of the best is to start paying attention to our thoughts and feelings simply. Then, every time we have a negative thought or feeling, we can choose to let it go and focus on something positive instead.

This may not seem like much, but it’s a compelling way to begin shifting our consciousness. As we let go of negatives, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and ways of thinking and being.

We also begin to attract more positive things into our lives. Again, this is because like attracts like. When we focus on positive emotions, thoughts, and feelings, we attract more of the same into our lives.

So, if you’re ready to embrace personal growth and fulfillment at the soul level, start by paying attention to your thoughts and feelings. Let go of the negatives and focus on the positives. The more you do this, the more you’ll begin to connect with your soul and live a more conscious, fulfilling life.

What You Need to Do

As I conclude this article today, I want you to ask yourself; Are you a spiritual person having a human experience? The best way to find out is to explore and discover for yourself what spirituality means to you.

Spirituality is very personal, and there is no one right or wrong answer to the question of what it means.

To discover whether or not you are a spiritual being, encourage yourself to go deeper within and explore your innermost thoughts and feelings. Ask yourself what brings you happiness and fulfillment in life and what gives you a sense of purpose. If you can find answers to these questions that resonate with your soul, you are undoubtedly a spiritual being.

The important thing is that you explore and discover the meaning of spirituality to you – what it entails and how it makes you feel. Only you can answer that question for yourself. So, go deep within and allow yourself to connect with your soul deeper. This is where the answers will come from.
