I have loved reading Saint Charitra since childhood very much. Even when I was in college and work, I spent a lot of time in the library. I remember reading such books in my life with great zeal. Sometimes I wake up at night and read books. Reading Saint Charitra books is always a source of inspiration. The journey of his life unfolds through it. The passion for God in their minds, the efforts they made to achieve their goals and the success they finally achieved. Everything is thrilling. They set an good example in front of the society. There is a lot to learn from their character. I would love to share some books with you which i read till now in my life 🙂

1. Chitshakti Vilas – Swami Muktananda

Swami Muktananda’s spiritual autobiography is a detailed account of his journey to Self-realization under the guidance of his Guru, Bhagavan Nityananda. In these pages, Baba Muktananda instructs seekers on how to walk the Siddha Yoga path, giving teachings about shaktipat initiation, the unfolding of Kundalini, the Guru-disciple relationship, the practices and power of Siddha Yoga sadhana, and the importance of Self-realization. This edition includes an introduction by Gurumayi Chidvilasananda and archival photographs of Swami Muktananda.

I remember , my sister had brought this book first time long years back . by seeing name and photo of sri muktanand swami i started readding first chapter. I began to feel very much interest in that. This book explains how swami muktananda did his sadhana in solitude , what experiance he got and how he completed his sadhana . Its very interesting .

2. Autobiography of a Yogi – Paramasans Yogananda

Autobiography of a Yogi is at once a beautifully written account of an exceptional life and a profound introduction to the ancient science of Yoga and its time-honored tradition of meditation. Profoundly inspiring, it is at the same time vastly entertaining, warmly humorous and filled with extraordinary personages.

I remember , This book also my sister had brought in home. I read discription written on first page and started reading the book . I was reading…reading..reading and reading 🙂 some chapters are very interesting from this book .

3. Prabhupad – A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

This is the fascinating biography of an extraordinary saint, scholar and religious leader: A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. The movement he started is now known to millions around the world, yet he himself remained in the background, without personal ambition. The riveting story of Srila Prabhupada’s life will make you wonder how the world has largely missed this saint who recently walked among us. As a sociological, philosophical, or religious study, Srila Prabhupada’s life story stands tall as a unique contribution to millions of individuals and to the world. Srila Prabhupada was a true holy man (sadhu) of deep intellectual and spiritual sensitivity-he had deep concern and compassion for a society which, to such a large degree, lacks real spiritual dimension. If you read nothing else about bhakti-yoga, read this biography-the life of one soul steeped in pure love for God.

The book came to my eye notice when I started going to the iskon temple near our house. I read this book in marathi . This book shook me completely. I didnt slept for two days after reading this . Its a very beautiful life journey of srila prabhupada .

I found this book in Iskon book shelf . By seeing cover picture immediately i thought to buy that. this too i read in marathi .what should i say about this book ? who want to experiance that divin bliss please do read this at least once in life .

5. Living with the Himalayan masters – Sri Swami Rama

In this inspirational collection of stories, Swami Rama relates his experiences with the great teachers who guided his life, including Tagore, Mahatma Gandhi, Sri Aurobindo, and Ramana Maharshi. This book documents Swami Rama’s spiritual quest, which showed him that direct experience is the source of real knowledge.

I read this book many years back in hindi हिमालय के संतों के संग निवास I remember i was crying and crying while readding this .there are small small chapters in this . In this book author share his meeting experiance with many himalayan monks. Its really must readable book . I still use to read this book when i get time .

6. Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master: A Yogi’s Autobiography – Sri M

The author Sri ‘M’ is an extraordinary individual. His uniqueness lies not only in the fact that at the young age of 19 and a half, he travelled to snow clad Himalayas from Kerala, and there he met and lived for several years with a ‘real-time’ yogi, Babaji, but also that he should undertake such an unusual and adventurous exploration, given his non-Hindu birth and antecedents.

This is an astounding book replete with miracles, meetings with masters, description of higher levels of consciousness and spiritual attainment. It is a rather strange tale.

This book also I had read long time back. I read this in marathi हिमालयवासी गुरूच्या योगी शिष्याचे आत्मकथन
It’s one of the best book i read till now. very Interesting .

7. Brahmachaitanya Gondavalekar Maharaj Discourses

Brahmachaitanya Gondavalekar Maharaj (Feb 1845 – Dec 22, 1913) was a Hindu saint who resided in the Taluka of Maan at Gondavale Budruk in Satara District, Maharashtra, India. His pre-sainthood name was Ganapati. Brahmachaitanya was a devotee of the Hindu god Rama and signed his name as ‘Brahmachaitanya Ramdasi’.

He left his home in search of a spiritual ‘Guru’ when he was just 9 years old. He went to Yehalegaon in Nanded district and became a disciple of Shri Sant Tukamai who gave him the name Brahmachaitanya.

He spent a lifetime teaching the importance of Nama Japa (chanting name of God). He advocated the continued remembrance of God by Nama Japa as a means of happiness, contentment and peace. He made extensive use of ‘Pravachans’, ‘Bhajans’, ‘Vedic Anushthans’ etc. for encouraging people to follow the path of Bhakti (devotion). He taught people the Mantra ‘ Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram’ This Mantra has 13 letters (Alphabets). Each letter has its own meaning and Shri Maharaj has written 13 different ‘Abhangas’ on each of this letter. He said that this Mantra was given by Shi Rama to Sita and that this Mantra implies that Ram is our Master and is in our heart and takes care for all of us.

9. Shreepad Shree Vallabh Charitramut ।। श्रीपाद श्रीवल्लभ चरितामृत ।। ग्रंथ

Lord SRIPADA SRIVALLABHA is the first and foremost incarnation (Avatar) of Jagatguru Sri DATTATREYA, took place in 1320 AD. at Srikshetra PITHAPURAM.

SRIPADA SRIVALLABHA is the most powerful and capable in destroying the difficulties, losses, miseries and obstacles occurring in the developments of His dedicated devotees.

The aim of SRIPADA SRIVALLABHA′S incarnation is to bless Maha Siddhas, Maha Yogis and to uphold Dharma through them in the Universe.

Sripada Srivallabha is verily Sri Dattatreya himself. There is no difference and deviation between Sridatta and Sripada. Hence if Worshiped and Prayed Sripada Srivallabha in the same way as that of Sridatta, He grants the same result which will be given by Sridatta.

Right from the Childhood while He was at Srikshetra Pithikapuram Sripada Srivallabha narrated many times that,he is SriDatta himself, He is a special phenomenon much beyond the Trinity i.e. Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara.
