When I started natural trials on my old apple orchards, they slowly withered away particularly because of inclement weather conditioning, when my place at Maghara Mandhol used to had 2 to 4 feet regular snowfall during winters, 20 years back, now it has reduced to 2 to 4 inches, which I am experiencing for the last twenty years. Now climate in our region is not suited to apple cultivation, it has now become conducive to citrus cultivation and also for stone fruits. So I started to experiment on these lines, simultaneously watching my nursery apple saplings patches on ultra high density plantation. Citrus and stone fruits seem to be growing with certain ease when apple plantation has become more a luxury to spend more and more. That’s the reason I have no doubt in rejecting the apple cultivation in present scenario as not wise decision to cling into its 100 years age old habit of repeating it ruthlessly, buying feathered plants at on exorbitant prices of Rs. 700/ plant from Europe inviting certain viral diseases along with it. If at all the UHDP is to be adopted, why not it to be practiced on citrus and stone fruit? My small orchard of mandarin oranges is now 10 to 12 years old, gave sample the fifth year of its plantation and the stone fruits are giving samples next after the grafting year is over. Such speedy outcome I have never seen in my twenty years struggle on Natural Farming.

जब मैंने अपने पुराने सेब के बागों पर प्राकृतिक परीक्षण शुरू किया, तो वे धीरे-धीरे मुरझा गए, खासकर खराब मौसम की वजह से, जब 20 साल पहले माघरा मंधोल में मेरे स्थान पर सर्दियों के दौरान 2 से 4 फीट नियमित बर्फबारी होती थी, अब यह घटकर 2 रह गई है। 4 इंच, जो मैं पिछले बीस वर्षों से अनुभव कर रहा हूं। अब हमारे क्षेत्र की जलवायु सेब की खेती के अनुकूल नहीं है, यह अब खट्टे फलों की खेती के लिए और पत्थर के फलों के लिए भी अनुकूल हो गया है। इसलिए मैंने इन पंक्तियों पर प्रयोग करना शुरू कर दिया, साथ ही साथ अल्ट्रा हाई डेंसिटी प्लांटेशन पर अपनी नर्सरी सेब के पौधे के पैच को देखना शुरू कर दिया। जब सेब की खेती अधिक से अधिक खर्च करने की विलासिता बन गई है तो खट्टे और पत्थर के फल कुछ सहजता से बढ़ रहे हैं। यही कारण है कि मुझे वर्तमान परिदृश्य में सेब की खेती को अस्वीकार करने में कोई संदेह नहीं है क्योंकि इसे 100 साल पुरानी आदत को बेरहमी से दोहराने, पंख वाले पौधों को रुपये की अत्यधिक कीमतों पर खरीदने का बुद्धिमान निर्णय नहीं है। 700/यूरोप का पौधा अपने साथ कुछ विषाणुजनित रोगों को आमंत्रित करता है। यदि यूएचडीपी को ही अपनाना है, तो खट्टे फलों और स्टोन फलों पर इसका अभ्यास क्यों नहीं किया जाना चाहिए? मैंडरिन संतरे का मेरा छोटा बाग अब 10 से 12 साल का हो गया है, इसके रोपण के पांचवें वर्ष का नमूना दिया और पत्थर के फल ग्राफ्टिंग वर्ष समाप्त होने के बाद अगले नमूने दे रहे हैं। इतना तेज़ परिणाम मैंने अपने बीस साल के प्राकृतिक खेती के संघर्ष में कभी नहीं देखा।
