An attempt on Autobiographical Memoirs – Series 9

After getting admission in 9th class, I was allotted preferably a small room than that of dormitory hall, in Jubbal hostel by our warden Shree Hemraj Thakur jee with 10th class student Mr. Diwan Chand Khimta of my neighbouring village Astandali. Shree Hemraj jee was of Jamalta family from Kupri Village, a very good mathematics teacher. Though I got proficiency in geometry and algebra than that in arithmetics. So I was able to teach Mr. Diwan, my room mate, the methodology of learning Pythagorus Theorems so easily. I preferably took science stream studying biology, physics and chemistry as optional subjects in the hope of getting pre- medical course, latter qualifying for MBBS admission. 9th class had to be passed by internal exams, 10th and 11th class exams were to be qualified under Himachal Education Board. I am reminded of our All India Education Tour with our Principal Shree Nand Lal Gupta jee accompanied by other three students from 9th class namely Mr. Bhagat Singh, Mr. Vinay Sood and Mr. Ravi Sood both brothers by relation, along with two students from each Higher Secondary Schools of Himachal Pradesh. I am reminded of one incident in Calcutta Railway Platform when we lost Mr. Bhagat Singh in the flow of heavy crowd for one night. Thank God we were able to find him in the morning sitting aloof and worried on a bench. All the students were carried by one month booking of two bogies from Kalka Raiway Station. Total entourage was headed by our Principal Shree N.L. Gupta jee. It was really a fruitful tour to all the young students of Himachal Pradesh. I am reminded of one cultural tour organised by then Block Development Officer Late Shree O.P. Thakur, picking up 12 young men performing folk dance feat on 5th September, Teachers Day, enthusiastically organised by Mandhol School every year, Late Shree Thakur noticed our group to be one of the best in all, performing that classical folklores with high quality costumes of gold  Kalgi Jinjeeri and gold embroidered Chogas collected from old families all around the entire areas, initiated by our leading performer Shree Joginder Singh Khimta and then Pradhan Late Shree Karam Chand Azad jee. Shahnai was performed by our a great Maestro Late Shree Vidya jee, Nagharas were drummed by able Late Shree Theol jee, Dholaks were performed by Late Shree Nikka and Shree Beli Ram of Jharag Village, Karnalis were paired by old Jubbal performers and pair of Narsinghas were sounded by Shirachali and Shirana performers. That team performed in the beautiful valley of Shrinagar and Pahalgam in J.&K. for a month or so staying as their State Guests. Lastly we performed this loving show in Chandigarh Raj Bhawan treating us also there as their State Guests. Finally we performed this show at home in Kalawari Mandir Shimla. That was really a worth remembering event we all participants often use to recollect. That was the year when our results of Higher Secondary final year was declared. When we were in Higher Secondary final year 11th class, English subject was taught by our indomitable Principal Shree Nand Lal Gupta jee. His methods of teaching had been always encouraging students to make feel the subjects simple and normal to handle with. Due to his methodology I scored first class marks in aggregate and I got in English 136 marks out of 150, unfortunately the same year I got plucked in Physics by only one mark and my dear friend cum classmate Mr. Pyarelal Lal Kalanta got failed by one mark in biology, eventually we both were declared fail candidates. It was a great shock to Gupta jee referencing it as rare happening, daily in morning assembly for a month or so. He invited me to join the school to continue  studies once again, but I could not afford to face him any more again. So I preferred to appear next year as private candidate to continue my studies and got pass with sincere help in numerical studies by my friend Mr Premraj Kailashi of Village Kotru, not by that good scorings as I got failure the previous year with exceptionally good marks. That was my downfall in the history of my study period, I never craved for outstanding rank thereafter.

नौवीं कक्षा में प्रवेश लेने के बाद, मेरे पड़ोस के गांव अस्तंडाली के 10 वीं कक्षा के छात्र श्री दीवान चंद खिमता के साथ जुब्बल छात्रावास में, मुझे हमारे वार्डन श्री हेमराज ठाकुर जी द्वारा छात्रावास हॉल की तुलना में एक छोटा कमरा आवंटित किया गया था। हेमराज जी कुपरी गांव के जमालता परिवार के थे, जो गणित के बहुत अच्छे शिक्षक थे। हालाँकि मुझे अंकगणित की तुलना में ज्यामिति और बीजगणित में दक्षता प्राप्त है। इसलिए मैं अपने रूम मेट श्रीमान दीवान को पाइथागोरस प्रमेयों को सीखने की पद्धति इतनी आसानी से सिखाने में सक्षम था। प्री-मेडिकल कोर्स, बाद में एमबीबीएस प्रवेश के लिए अर्हता प्राप्त करने की उम्मीद में मैंने वैकल्पिक विषयों के रूप में जीव विज्ञान, भौतिकी और रसायन शास्त्र का अध्ययन करने वाले विज्ञान स्ट्रीम को अधिमानतः लिया। 9वीं की इंटरनल परीक्षा पास करनी थी, 10वीं और 11वीं की परीक्षा हिमाचल शिक्षा बोर्ड के तहत पास होनी थी। मुझे हमारे प्रधानाचार्य श्री नंद लाल गुप्ता जी के साथ हमारी अखिल भारतीय शिक्षा यात्रा की याद आ रही है, जिसमें 9वीं कक्षा के अन्य तीन छात्र श्री भगत सिंह, श्री विनय सूद और श्री रवि सूद के साथ-साथ प्रत्येक उच्चतर माध्यमिक विद्यालय के दो छात्र शामिल हैं। हिमाचल प्रदेश। मुझे कलकत्ता रेलवे प्लेटफॉर्म पर एक घटना याद आ रही है जब हमने श्री भगत सिंह को एक रात के लिए भारी भीड़ के प्रवाह में खो दिया था। भगवान का शुक्र है कि हम सुबह उसे एक बेंच पर बैठे और चिंतित पा सकते थे, सभी छात्रों को कालका रेलवे स्टेशन से दो बोगियों की एक महीने की बुकिंग के लिए ले जाया गया था। कुल दल का नेतृत्व हमारे प्रधानाचार्य श्री एन.एल.गुप्ता जी ने किया। हिमाचल प्रदेश के सभी युवा छात्रों के लिए यह वास्तव में एक उपयोगी यात्रा थी। मुझे याद हो रहा है कि तत्कालीन प्रखंड विकास अधिकारी स्वर्गीय श्री ओ.पी. ठाकुर द्वारा आयोजित एक सांस्कृतिक भ्रमण में 5 सितंबर शिक्षक दिवस पर 12 युवकों को उठाकर हर साल मंधोल स्कूल द्वारा उत्साहपूर्वक आयोजित किया जाता था, स्वर्गीय श्री ठाकुर ने देखा कि हमारा समूह सभी में सर्वश्रेष्ठ में से एक, हमारे प्रमुख कलाकार श्री जोगिंदर सिंह खिमता और तत्कालीन प्रधान स्वर्गीय श्री करम चंद आज़ाद जी द्वारा शुरू किए गए, चारों ओर पुराने परिवारों से एकत्रित सोने की कलगी जिंजीरी और सोने की कढ़ाई वाले चोगों की उच्च गुणवत्ता वाली लोककथाओं का प्रदर्शन। शहनाई का प्रदर्शन एक महान उस्ताद स्वर्गीय श्री विद्या जी द्वारा किया गया था, नागदास को सक्षम स्वर्गीय श्री थियोल जी द्वारा ढोलक बजाया गया था, डोलक झरग गाँव के स्वर्गीय श्री निक्का द्वारा प्रस्तुत किया गया था, पुराने जुब्बल कलाकारों द्वारा करनाल की जोड़ी बनाई गई थी और नरसिंहों की जोड़ी शिराचली और शिराना द्वारा बजाई गई थी। कलाकार। उस टीम ने जम्मू-कश्मीर में श्रीनगर और पहलगाम की खूबसूरत घाटी में प्रदर्शन किया। एक या दो महीने के लिए उनके राज्य अतिथि के रूप में रहना। अंत में हमने चंडीगढ़ में इस प्यार भरे शो को अपने स्टेट गेस्ट के रूप में पेश किया। अंत में हमने यह शो कलावारी मंदिर शिमला में किया। यह वास्तव में याद रखने योग्य घटना थी जिसे हम सभी प्रतिभागी अक्सर याद करते थे। वह साल था जब हमारे हायर सेकेंडरी फाइनल ईयर के नतीजे घोषित किए गए थे। जब हम हायर सेकेंडरी अंतिम वर्ष 11वीं कक्षा में थे, तब हमारे अदम्य प्राचार्य श्री नंद लाल गुप्ता जी द्वारा अंग्रेजी विषय पढ़ाया जाता था। उनके पढ़ाने के तरीके हमेशा छात्रों को विषयों को संभालने के लिए सरल और सामान्य महसूस कराने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करते रहे हैं। उनकी कार्यप्रणाली के कारण मैंने कुल मिलाकर प्रथम श्रेणी के अंक प्राप्त किए और मुझे अंग्रेजी में 150 में से 136 अंक प्राप्त हुए, दुर्भाग्य से उस वर्ष मैं केवल एक अंक से भौतिकी में फंस गया और मेरे प्रिय मित्र सह सहपाठी श्री प्यारेलाल लाल कलांता एक से अनुत्तीर्ण हो गए। जीव विज्ञान में अंक, अंततः असफल उम्मीदवार घोषित किए गए। गुप्ता जी के लिए इसे एक दुर्लभ घटना के रूप में संदर्भित करना एक बड़ा झटका था, एक महीने या उससे भी ज्यादा समय तक सुबह की सभा में। उन्होंने मुझे एक बार फिर से पढ़ाई जारी रखने के लिए स्कूल में शामिल होने के लिए आमंत्रित किया, लेकिन मैं फिर से उनका सामना करने का जोखिम नहीं उठा सकता था। इसलिए मैंने अपनी पढ़ाई जारी रखने के लिए अगले साल निजी उम्मीदवार के रूप में उपस्थित होना पसंद किया और ग्राम कोटरू के मेरे मित्र श्री प्रेमराज कैलाशी द्वारा अंकगणित में ईमानदारी से मदद से पास किया, न कि उस अच्छे अंकों से क्योंकि मुझे पिछले वर्ष अच्छे अंकों के साथ असफलता मिली थी। मेरे अध्ययन की अवधि के इतिहास में यह मेरा पतन था, इसके बाद मैंने कभी भी उत्कृष्ट रैंक की लालसा नहीं की।
