People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centred. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.

What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.

Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

~Mother Teresa

One is challenged by many times by situations where doing the right thing sounds futile or even foolish at times. In our lives, we will come across all kinds of people and wish as we may, not everyone is driven by the rules of honesty, humility and integrity. We hope that others see the things over way, but rarely is that wish fulfilled. It is likely to lead to lot of frustration, anger and bitterness. There will be situations where we will see people with less honest intentions, even those who openly call out and feel proud of their dubious ways, will move ahead of us in life. It is moments like these that test our true courage, the strength of our learnings and the depth of our self belief. Its the moments like these where we need to stay resolute and determined on what we believe is the ‘right’ thing to do.

And in life, results don’t come right away and they might not come in right proportion as well. As the saying in Hindi goes “Bhagwan ke ghar mein deyr hain, andheyr nahin.”  Its the test of our patience and we need to be ready with it.

Ultimately, we need to have a clear conscience and remember that we are only answerable to God and its only in God’s eyes that we need to remain true to ourselves and our core values. NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.
