I have never understood the game most teens play called ‘Truth or Dare’. I know some adults might also be playing this game but let it be.
In this game, players are given choice either to tell the truth about the question asked or dare to do the task given. However don’t you think that speaking the truth itself is a daring act. Most people don’t speak the truth usually. People love to act and react fake. They only speak the truth as per their convenience whatever way it suits them. Someone has rightly said that most people want truth to be on their side but they don’t want to be on the side of truth.
Most people want truth to be on their side but they don’t want to be on the side of truth.
Truth is always bitter and it’s really courageous and virtuous to always be on the side of the truth. Its not that courage is required only to speak the truth but it always requires a lot more courage to listen and accept the truth. It very good to speak the truth but how many actually appreciate the truth when they are on the receiving end. Criticism sometimes also carry the specks of truth but we don’t like it because it goes into direct conflict with our ego.
In Swami Ji’s words’ ” Most people are not in search of truth; they don’t even want to know the truth and infact, they are scared of truth.”
And I fully agree with this statement. Most people are actually scared of truth. Though they may find it fanciful, spiritual, courageous or virtuous to speak the truth and bragging about it but they are scared of confrontation with the truth. The moment you confront them with truth, they come to defending lies. Most people are best judges for others and are great lawyers for themselves. Accepting and pleading the truth is also a virtue as much as speaking the truth it. But Alas! Truth weighs so heavy that most people don’t carry it beyond their convenience!!
