Compassion, one of the most beautiful and divine emotion, an emotion when practiced or adopted, elevates you instantly from being a human to being nothing less than DIVINE; It is the emotion of Compassion. And to say that Compassion is merely an emotion, will be misunderstanding Compassion because above everything else Compassion is your response. It is your reaction towards things, people, situations, circumstances, events, incidents in your life.

 

“I’m aware that people will wrong me, hurt me, misunderstand me but that does not mean that I have to act like them. That does not mean that I have to judge them. Whatever they do or they have done, it is their karmic account. What I do, what I speak, goes in my karmic account. Therefore I can take only my own responsibility. I am not going to let go an opportunity of Compassion.

ॐ सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः
सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः ।
सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु
मा कश्चिद्दुःखभाग्भवेत् ।
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

May all entities be at peace, in a state of sukha (peace).

May all be free from sickness.

May we only behold all that is auspicious.

May there be no suffering.

 

It is what springs from my heart when I think of the world. Because deep inside I am a compassionate being.

No matter what people do or say, I am committed to the practice of Compassion above everything else. I am not going to shout at people. I will try my best to not judge them. Whatever talent and resources I have, I will try my utmost to share it with the world, keeping my ego aside.

I do realise that I must also have hurt other people. So Compassion is not really a great service I am doing to the mankind. Instead it is my responsibility. I must be compassionate like a tree when somebody throws stone at it, it gives a fruit. I must be compassionate like fire that accepts everything in its vault. Compassion is patience. I must be compassionate like mother Earth that bears all the burden of all the living and non-living beings. I must be vast as the sky. I must be gentle like a ever flowing river. After all love, empathy, gentleness, kindness is Compassion all about.

There will be times when I want to choose another response than Compassion, when I would feel angry or upset and want to give it back to the person. But at that time I will remind myself to be compassionate and not angry. If I continue to work on my inner purity and realisation, helping others in this process, I know practicing Compassion will come to me naturally. Whatever response I choose or behaviour I exhibit, I am going to mindfully think before expressing myself. Chances are in that mindful thinking, I may choose Compassion.

I will try my utmost to be neutral and non judgmental like our universe. I am aware that people make mistakes sometime and often those mistakes are not unintentional. But irrespective of whether they act knowingly or unknowingly, I am going to be forgiving and compassionate. I will try my utmost to show Compassion at every opportunity Life presents me. For deep inside my heart, I am grateful and aware that there is so much I have to give and share with the world. Other people’s action can not stop me from being kind and compassionate.”
