1. Neelkanth Mahadev Mandir- It is one of the most important temples dedicated to Shiv Ji. It is a little outside of Rishikesh. In our scriptures, it is written that when Samudra Manthan was taking place; both Devtas and Asuras were taking part in it. The first thing that came out of the ocean during Samudra Manthan was Halahal poison. It was the most lethal poison that anyone had ever encountered. Neither any Devta nor any Asura was willing to accept it. Only Mahadev was capable of handling the intensity of that  poison. So, everyone started praying to Bholenath for help. At last, Mahadev accepted those prayers and consumed the Halahal poison. Shiv Ji didn’t swallowed it! Mahadev established that poison in his throat which turned blue because of it. That’s why Mahadev was given the name of “Neelkanth” from that day which literally means ‘blue throat’. To cool off the intensity of that poison, Shiv Ji came to meditate at this exact place where the temple stands today. Mahadev meditated for many years at this cool place which was among mountains. So, to honour Shiv Ji; Neelkanth Mahadev Mandir was build at this place.

2. Triveni Ghat- It is the biggest Ghat at the banks of Ganga River in Rishikesh. The Ganga Aarti performed here is very famous and it is also known as Maha Aarti. This Ghat is also used as a place to perform the last rites of people.
