Once a politician visits one Mental Hospital to grab some attention.

Politician: Doctor, how do you decide who to admit and who not to?

Doctor: We give the person a spoon, a cup and a bucket and tell them to empty a bathtub filled with water.

Politician: That’s smart as a sane person will use the bucket to empty it.

Doctor: No. A sane person will remove the drain plug. You are welcome !!!

Now the question is, how many of us remove the drain plug? Are we a kind of the same as the politician, who try to fake ourselves as over smart, over compassionate, over-sweet and over-hyped or like the mental patients who do not know what to do when it comes to emptying our minds?

A healthy spiritual mind requires to be empty as it is said that the usefulness of the cup is in its emptiness. Every day, year over year, we have filled our minds with anger, lust, attachments, greed and pride among other vices. But when it comes to emptying our minds, we use a spoon, a cup or a bucket but we never think of using the drain plug.

What if we practice using a drain plug every night before going to sleep and try to drain out everything from our minds and fill it with positive thoughts so that when we get up in the morning, it’s always neat and clean.

Just imagine our minds as a bathtub filled with anger, bias, prejudices, lust, pride, ego, attachments, greed etc. It will look filthy. Now let’s imagine removing the drain plug. Swootch! See everything getting drained out.

Repeat the practice again and again till the surface becomes clean. Now fill it with love, compassion, humility, forgiveness, truthfulness and all the beautiful positive thoughts and sleep soundly. The world will become a better place!
