The other day, I was reading a book written by Srila Prabhupada in which he expounds on determination in Bhakti. I think you all must hear this story somewhere, however, I can’t wait to share that with you all,😄

A sparrow laid her eggs on the shore of the ocean, but the mighty ocean carried away the eggs on its waves. The sparrow became very upset and asked the ocean to return her eggs. The ocean did not even consider her appeal.

So the sparrow decided to dry up the ocean. She began to pick out the water in her small beak, and everyone laughed at her for her impossible determination. The news about her activity spread, and at last, Garuda, the gigantic bird carrier of Lord Vishnu heard it.

He became compassionate towards his small sister bird, and so he came to see the sparrow. Garuda was very pleased by the determination of the small sparrow, and he promised to help. Thus Garuda at once asked the ocean to return her eggs lest he should have to take up the work of the sparrow. It frightened the ocean and the ocean returned the eggs. Thus the sparrow became happy by the grace of Garuda.

Lovingly he narrates that the little cute sparrow demonstrated such determination despite extraordinary odds stacked against her. Well, who can fight with Ocean? Consequently, a tiny bird succeeded in forcing the great ocean to surrender.

Despite our difficulties and our circumstance if our actions are determined and consistent, Bhagwan is not far, he will come, he said.

Every day miracles happen by his grace. How beautiful it is to get determined for one who is everything, one who is the beloved of all of us. Hey, did you remember Sadhvi ji’s words from Art of Devotion, Have you been with Bhagwan today; did you create your parallel universe? If not, do it, it’s beautiful.😄

Come out into the broad light of day Come out from the little narrow paths For how can the infinite soul rest content to live and die in small ruts?
