This New Year

This New Year

Shed your old layers

Shine anew.

Leave that’s unhealthy; stop

That stops you; learn to let go:

Those habits, that no longer serve;

Those regrets, that’ve done their jobs;

Those attachments, that keep you enslaved.

Step into new zones: of learnings

And mistakes.

Be curious, travel to new places.

But instead of stuff, gather experiences.

Read.

Keep a diary.

—That’s your history!

Exercise. Everyday,

Take some time off:

Be alone. Meditate.

When with others,

Practice spiritual disciplines!

Because in solitude, you only learn;

But in company, you give the exam!

In anything you do, think of others’ well-being.

In anything you say, practice kindness.

Give more than you take.

Expect less than you desire.

Help whenever you can. Take too,

Only when necessary.

Regard time—as the most valuable of all;

Money—only to the extent

It can create an impact;

And relationships—as a lesson

In human nature.

At the end of the day, before you fall,

Resolve your conflicts, pray for all.

Curse none, take no offense.

Be grateful for what you have, for what you don’t—

पूछ लेना if it’s needed at all.

Now you are truly new.

New as the brand new year!

And this New Year—

Overcoming all difficulties,

Winning over all fears—

May all live happily.

Let’s make this world a beautiful place…

And to all, cheers!
