This was during the lockdown in 2020, I was trying different mantras just to see which one connects to me the most. I was fortunate to find The Ancient Science of Mantras by our beloved Swamiji. I picked up this one mantra and started chanting one mala every day. After 3-4 days I woke up one morning from this beautiful dream. I saw my Ishta, my Lord Krishna for the first time. He wasn’t wearing any jewelry or garlands. Simply radiated beauty in his yellow dhoti and beautiful bluish-grey complexion. I took it as a sign from above and I’ve been chanting that same mantra since then. So here’s a poem for my dear Krishna.

When Again?

O’ Krishna, what is this maya?

Where was I? A land unknown,

Roseate expanse was wrapped in silver mist,

Auspicious by your presence alone.

When my eyes looked into thine,

The windows of my soul were in bliss,

Yet my heart cries in pain,

I’m so mesmerized by your lotus eyes,

O’ Divine, when will I see you again?

Enchanted by your euphonious voice,

Sweeter than a mother’s lullaby,

Like wilderness was blessed with rain,

This tongue has called thou many times, O’ Enticer of heart,

Your child wants to hear you again.

With kumkum and turmeric, you smeared my forehead,

Sweetly graced my skin with the greatest ornament,

Dream evanesces, thy touch forever remains,

You’ve touched this holy land many times, O’ Lord of Earth,

This forehead pleads to be touched again.

A cowherd boy who enchants the universe,

Rejoicing in thy glories holy Yamuna flows,

The woods of Vrindavan worship echoes of your footsteps,

Whose giggles still reverberate nearby shore,

Thy divine vision, I solely yearn for,

This consciousness held captive in Maya for ages,

Gently break the spell of samsara, O’ dispeller of bondages,

Crying for you, I chant thou holy name,

You’ve unveiled deceits of illusion many times O’ Supreme being,

When will you reveal yourself again?
