“Do you know this person?” Our plumber asked me this question out of nowhere! My mind was in utter shock and surprise. A massive tornado hit my calm and collective sanity. Luckily it didn’t hit my face; I continued maintaining my smile. I just nodded yes to him. After one deep breath, I shooed away that uneasy and unwelcome whirlwind from my mind, one of the benefits of Mediation one can’t ignore. I can stay chill and at ease in an uncomfortable situation, maintaining a smile and calm.

One of my friends Is an avid meditator and a very spiritual person. Her Guru’s lineage emphasizes Kriya Yoga; she conducts meditation sessions for her groups in Dallas, TX. Since last year, I have isolated myself from social life, but occasionally, I talk over the phone with her. She is a kind, loving, caring soul, an entrepreneur in many residential properties, and a landlord businesswoman.

I was having some plumbing issues at our place and was looking for an affordable plumber who could magically fix all the leaking faucet issues and water damage in the house. I picked up my phone and called my lovely friend as I was sure she could suggest a few good names. As expected, she gave me one reference. The next day, a plumber was at my doorstep.

Six days ago

He said he could locate and fix the leak at a reasonable rate. I was glad to hear that. I don’t speak Spanish, and he could speak very little English. With loads of hand gestures and some English words, we agreed on work and rate. The Divine found an expert plumber at a reasonable cost, knowing my bank account balance situation. I thanked the Divine with my utmost love and devotion; as we all know, She is busy with all the Universe’s problems.

The plumber had to visit Home Depot to get the required gadgets to fix the leakage. I asked him to call me from the store, so I charged the expenses to my credit card. I have previously done the same procedure with our other handyman a few times. As planned, he called me from the checkout line, but the cashier wouldn’t accept my credit card over the phone. I tried to convince him about my authenticity, but he was not ready to change his mind, was rude to me on the phone, and greatly lacked kindness toward the plumber due to his shortcoming in speaking English. The plumber politely agreed to pay by his credit card, and I would pay him in cash upon his return.

I felt sad as he was not treated well and faced racism when doing my work. As I apologized to him, he looked at me and smiled. He said, “That guy at the counter was doing his work; it’s okay. I understand. I am doing my work.”

I was speechless! Did my plumber practice kindness, forgiveness, and nonattachment? It was unexpected and super impressive.

Is he following “कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।? “

Meaning: You have a right to perform your prescribed duty but are not entitled to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, and never be attached to not doing your duty.

“Thank you, Guruji, for sending the best plumber in Dallas who also practice Bhagwan Sri Hari’s teachings!”

Yesterday

It was his last day to get all the faucets fixed. I was sitting in the office and lovingly watching Guruji’s discourse in the afternoon. I am glad I don’t work for someone else; otherwise, I would get fired in a heartbeat as I spend most of my time watching Guruji’s videos. My office room at home has three large French glass doors and offers an open layout. He was working outside my office in the walkway and could easily see the widescreen of my computer. After a few hours, he came into the office and showed me his phone screen, asking me, “Do you know this person?”

This is where the tornado hit me!

It was the Spanish YouTube channel of “Sadhguru Español,” with 2.3 M plus followers. Also, there is a Sadhguru App in four languages: German, Russian, French, and Spanish. Our plumber watches his videos regularly with the utmost respect. He asked, “Is Sadhguru a good person? I said, “I am not personally familiar with him, nor do I watch his videos. Many people follow Sadguru, but I am not one of them”.

I have my Guruji (Om Swami) with me; I have spent all my lifetimes praying to find Om Swami as my Guru every time I visit this planet (at least, that’s the story I believe in). I showed him Guruji’s videos and photos. He was delighted to know more about Guruji, but I couldn’t offer him any of my books as he has limitations in his English reading.

I wish I could convert all Guruji’s (Om Swami) videos, books, and articles into different languages.

I was lucky to be born Indian and can speak and understand Hindi, but what about others? If my soul had been born in a different culture, I would have been steered away from the Divine Om Swami and Bhawan Sri Hari Ji. Is it just luck or the tapas that I have a blissful future?

Questions! Questions and more questions!

How can I help other souls with different languages and cultures?

Or do they need to wait to be born again in the soil of Sri Hari?

How would the soul find Guruji (Om Swami) if born in a different culture and language?
