A teacher can also inspire the female teachers of a country like we have seen in the case of Shrimati Savitribai Phule. She herself was an illiterate when she married Shri Jyotirao Phule. Jyotirao taught Savitribai and even enrolled her in teacher training programs. Because of this, Savitribai became the first female teacher of British India. Jyotirao and Savitribai opened many schools in Pune solely for educating girls. Both of them belonged to a lower caste and the people belonging to lower caste were not even allowed to study back then. Adding to this, they were teaching girl students which was also not looked in a good way by the society. Both of them faced many hardships for teaching girls and empowering them. Jyotirao’s father kicked both of them out of his house. People used to throw stones and filth on them whenever they went out to teach girl students. I feel that Savitribai was the first ambassador of women empowerment because of the significance of Savitribai in India’s teaching history. That’s why still today, females aspire to become a teacher; inspired by Savitribai Phule!
