The concept of mentoring originates from Greek mythology – Mentor was the teacher and guide of Telemachus.

When Odysseus went to fight the Trojan war, he placed his son Telemachus under the charge of his old friend Mentor to guide, teach & raise his son.

In today’s world, there is often a confusion between Mentoring & Coaching. So what is Coaching?

👉🏼 Coaching focuses on leading with questions to enhance performance & grow potential 💫
👉🏼 Coaching is about holding the space for the person to find their own answers, resources & lessons 📝
👉🏼 Coaching is a subset of Mentoring – it is part of the role of a mentor🙋🏽‍♂️

I believe, an effective mentor plays 3 distinct roles:

1️⃣ Coach – Leads with questions to grow
2️⃣ Counsel – Acts as a guide by sharing experience, tips & advice
3️⃣ Connect – Shares his/her personal network of contacts to the mentee

Being a mentor is one of the most fulfilling and gratifying experiences as a Leader ❤️

Having a mentor is one of the most impactful ways to accelerate your own growth 🚀

I am deeply #grateful to the #inspiring and #generous Mentors who have guided me in my journey so far 🙏🏼

➡️ Do you have a Mentor? If no, seek one.
