UNALOME series is special to my heart as it will lay out my tipsy spiritual journey so far into fragments of experiences that the readers might enjoy. I have chosen the word Unalome because it describes a symbol which means the path to enlightenment which is not always a straight one and has so many trials, tribulations, missteps, lessons and sufferings. This symbol is very close to my heart, why? Will tell in the end of the series! Till then happy reading.
Now this little girl named Meera began her journey of her new life in a family of her nani mumma( maternal grandma) which was so welcoming and positive. Let me introduce you all to this family. My nani had five kids including my mother. Three daughters, my mother and two aunts and two sons, my very loving uncles. As elaborated in the previous part, all my uncles and aunts along with my mumma had difficult life as my nanaji( maternal grandpa) committed suicide but because of my very intelligent and virtuous grandma they all turned out to be really sincere and responsible adults. Both my uncles were married and their kids, my cousins were just a year or two younger than me. So you can imagine a big fat Indian family with kids jiggling and babbling all around the house.
I had everyone around me and possibly every material thing that I needed or wanted as I have been the most pampered kid in the family, but a bond of a father which provides security to a kid was missing. I think uptill the age of two, I didn’t know that anyone who is called father really exists in this world. It is only during my father’s regular visits to nani house, I really met him and actually came to know about this lost relationship. I started asking questions to which my mother had no answers.
But one thing that was gradually blooming while my early upbringing in the family with almost every member being spiritually inclined was my attraction for my to-be-master, or if I say already a master because I don’t think there is anything like after or before in Guru-disciple relationship. Everytime anyone would ask me whom you love the most in the family? I still remember I would simply point out the big photo of Gurudev hanging on the drawing room wall. I didn’t know what was making me love her so much, it was like I was possessed with the force, completely unknown to me.
Later when I started walking, I would just follow my masi( with whom I share my Gurudev) everywhere, from now onwards I would call her Jasumati( name changed). I would tightly hold her dupatta in one hand, while sucking the thumb of the other hand. You might all be wondering why I am writing so much about my relationship with this particular member of the family, I think it is so because we shared same guru who was acting like a magnet between us and we like two iron rods, getting attracted to each other so much so because one was in the close vicinity of the magnetic field.
I would dance in ecstasy or I would say immense joy whenever my masi played the bhajans sung by my Gurudev on cassette player in those days. I would accompany her whenever there is any scheduled visit made by guruji to our city. One incident which she narrates to me is, I was very small when Gurudev made a visit to Amritsar center, after the Darshan, all the garlands which people had offered her, she with her fragrant and divine aura came near me and just put the garland into my neck with her divine hands. There is nothing special about me, I am a poor servant, I am just a dust particle of her lotus feet, it is just her grace and love that she might have chosen to express in her evergreen benevolent way.
My love affair with my Gurudev which according to my small and poor intellect, is a carried on connection from a past life, otherwise my poor intellect fails to understand this enchanting magnetism I was feeling for her. This relation only intensifies with time no matter how unstable your life is. The baby steps had begun to take their route on this tough but exciting journey.
My Salutations to all the saints. God bless you all. Uptill next part…lots of love and laughter ❤💕🤗🌻🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️🌟🌟🌟
