A big house? Better car? Lots of money in your bank account? Prestigious title in society? Perfect body? No traffic on the road when you are driving? Happiness? Love? Respect? Your soulmate? Maybe a free day to do whatever you wish to do? Well, the list can be as extensive as we can create. The things of ‘want’ never end.

What I have I don’t want, and I want I don’t have.

You always wanted to have that sexy and fabulous car. Finally, nature agrees with your request and prayers and gives you that car. You are so happy; you show off your most gorgeous possession to your friends and family. You proudly give her a name, your baby, now sitting in your garage. You finally got what you wanted. Are you happy? Yes!

Somehow, you noticed that the gas prices are so high! The frustration, disappointment, and anger are crawling back. Gas prices need to go down. You are not very happy anymore. You wished the car didn’t consume that much gas. Did you ask for a gas guzzler? No, you did ask for your dream car but forgot to specify the gas consumption rule.

Why are you not still happy? There is always one more thing you want. Now nature is confused; you change your wish from car to gas prices to the exact vehicle but better gas consumption? Or maybe, you want less traffic on the road while driving?
Or something different! Maybe now you are asking for a vacation on a tropical island with your partner? Now nature has to run around, find you a partner, and get your airline tickets to that island! Regardless, you will end up arguing with your partner on the sugary sandy beach and will hate the trip, your partner, and your life in the end. Because nothing ever goes perfect in your life.
Now, nature decides to give up on you. It has no idea what you want. You don’t know what you want. So, my friend… I am asking you — What do you want?

Know what you want:
Make a list of things you want.
Priorities it from most needed to least.
Keep no more than 5, cut down to 3, and then to the final.
Don’t change your mind in the middle, don’t add, delete, or replace the want.
Keep working on your efforts to activate the one you want on your list. Trust and know that nature will make it work, and you will have what you want.

Why are you still not happy?
Ok, now nature gave you want you wanted from your list. Are you happy? Did you find internal happiness? Are you one with ever-pure bliss consciousness? If yes, congratulations! Nothing more is essential or going to matter anymore. You have reached the perfect state in your life now, but then you won’t be reading this article! If you are still reading, let’s see what went wrong in your list, what nature offered you, and where your happiness is.

Shrimad Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 2, Verse 62

ध्यायतो विषयान्पुंस: सङ्गस्तेषूपजायते |
सङ्गात्सञ्जायते काम: कामात्क्रोधोऽभिजायते || 62||
dhyāyato viṣayānpuṃsaḥ saṅgasteṣūpajāyate
saṅgātsañjāyate kāmaḥ kāmātkrodho’bhijāyate

When a man thinks of objects, attachment for them arises; from passion, desire is born; from desire stems anger.

And what does this anger do? It leads to disappointment and finally sadness, and you are no longer happy. And the search for happiness starts in some other object, and everything goes on a repeat mode.
Again, same question! What do you want?

Our everyday struggle for happiness
We think security in life will make us happy, so we go to school and college to get a better education, get a better job, have a better home, and better family life and money in the bank. Then we have kids, and we struggle harder to give them a better life and education so they can find a better partner and job and be happy. By doing all this, we think we will achieve that happiness we have always sought. And when life is at the end, we look back, and we were never in the bliss of joy; the list of ‘want more’ was always incomplete.

The truth
We waste our life looking for happiness in objects. Know that everything around us has a meaning because we project sense on it. The minute we stop that process, everything will dissolve in oneness.

We all experience that spiritual moment, that bliss of happiness in life, all the time. We can find it in that magical sunset we just watched, or in a baby’s innocent laugh, in that giggle, or when we by accident come across our long-lost friend, or when we feel the first drop of the rain on a hot, humid day, or the smell of that freshly mowed lawn. It’s everywhere around us.

Our limitation
Know that you, the conscious awareness, have this body to experience the world you create. Don’t get attached or tangled up in your identity; it will vanish.

As we all know that humans have a minimal capacity (.0001 %) to absorb the spectrum of light and sound. We can’t tell looking at our body where we begin and end; there is no sound barrier between our body and outside nature. The only reason we can’t differentiate it is because of the limitation of our senses and knowledge. Why do we project that whatever is inside this skin is mine and outside is not? Where is this inside/outside concept coming from? If we magnify our skin, bones, and muscles and go deep into each cell, there is no separation of energy and space. It’s all one. There is energy everywhere; there is just oneness. No separateness between us and nature, just one beautiful oneness.

Know yourself
We are not our trauma or circumstances. Our true nature can’t be hurt, damaged, insulted, or sadden. We are not ugly, stupid, poor, or unhealthy. Neither are we beautiful, smart, wealthy, intelligent, or knowledgeable.

Rise above the title, perspectives, classifications, and dualities.

We are one with everything, here in the present. What can we want more? There is nothing we need; there is nothing we want. It is just all it is.

Now, I ask you again…

What do you want?
